Our Mission

The LA Orphan Train Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting and preserving those items that tell the history of the orphan train riders who came to the area by train from The New York Foundling Hospital. Using this collection to inform and educate the public of the orphan train movement in America from 1854 to 1929.

It is part of our ongoing mission to seek out the records of Louisiana orphan train riders of whom we are aware.  We continually seek to improve our methods of displaying artifacts in the museum to make them informative and interesting to visitors.
